One thing to note is that the Silent Spirit was completely silent at idle, and could barely be heard under full load.  I'm sure it's possible to improve this cooler's performance if you were to slap on a different fan.  The Silent Spirit is rather attractive at its $29.99 price. GELID Solutions Silent Spirit does a decent job considering what you're getting. It has one of the better heat-to-price ratios, especially for a mid-range cooler. This heatsink is adequate for even the latest Intel i7 line of processors. I just wouldn't do any overclocking with it.  Since it is so quiet, it would be perfect in a HTPC project.  If you have a spare rig that doesn't need to be absolutely pushed to the limit then the Silent Spirit may be just what you need."

"Die Montag auf dem Sockel 1366 war sehr einfach und schnell erledigt. Das Board musste nicht ausgebaut werden. Wegen der durchdachten Bauart sollte der Kühler sehr gut kompatibel sein. Das ist eine der Stärken dieses Kühlers. Auch hohe Chipsatzkühler sollten kein Problem darstellen. Bei der Herstellung hat man sich auf jeden Fall einiges gedacht. Die leicht aufgerichtete Bauweise kommt den umliegenden Bauteilen am Board zu Gute. Das Gewicht wurde niedrig gehalten und auch optisch gefällt der Kühler sehr. Die Kühlleistung war sehr gut, eine ideale und günstige Alternative zum Intel Boxed Kühler wie auch für aktuelle Core i7 Modelle . Zum übertakten ist der Kühler nicht geeignet, Der Preis ist natürlich der große Joker des GELID Silent Spirit, die UVP liegt bei 23 Euro, was schon ein Kampfpreis ist. Stärkere Modelle sind natürlich leistungsfähiger, dafür kosten die meistens aber gleich das Doppelte, wenn nicht das Dreifache."
